Top 3 Unlikely Places To Catch Infections This Summer

Infections can occur in the most unlikely of places. One could be venturing out on a vacation, enjoying a dip in the common bath pool, which could be the breeding ground for several infections. The most common infection is Trichomoniasis, affecting the vagina in women and urethra in men. These bacteria can be shed from the infected person through water. Also a dip in hot water pool, steam and sauna areas or spa are hot beds for water breeding germs that might be the cause of a varied number of respiratory, skin or nervous system infections. Swimmers with skin breakouts or infections, or HIV infected when in the water, can contaminate the water with their excretion. The excreta from unintended discharge from bathers or bodily fluids washed into these waters in the beaches or a local swimming pool can be detrimental to one’s health.

If you are the fitness fanatic who hops to the gym for a routine workout, be well aware to the several factors mostly overseen that can crop up. The germs and bacteria find warm, wet and humid areas the ideal breeding grounds for growth. Bare feet seem to pick up a lot of infection if there are exposed areas in the skin. There are numerous skin infections one can pick up if not careful. The shower, steam and sauna areas and store rooms can be warehouses of numerous bacteria. Viral infections like flu, cold are easily transmitted if the gym equipment is not cleaned properly before use. Many infections affect the blood which is life endangering.

A trip to the laser clinic or the beauty parlor seems the least likely places to catch an infection. But on the contrary one can face lot of health hazards if not careful. Many women undergo facials or cleanup procedures, where the instruments used like steamers, head remover, wipes, brushes, towels, if not maintained can transfer infections as severe as HIV, if the above instruments used in the infected person are not thoroughly sterilized. The spatulas used in waxing, or the tweezers used between persons should be UV-sterilized. For those who carry out piercing, tattoos, electrolysis, there are cases of septicemia which occur frequently. One can catch herpes or other infectious diseases like impetigo if hair removal is not done in a hygienic manner. Mani and pedi surfaces should be kept sterilized before next use.
