The effect of growing age is seen on everything, be it plant or animals, surviving or dead, living or non- living. In face, every part and element of the body undergoes the changes with time. Aging of the skin is also a feature of the physical aging process. Some causes of skin aging are internal to the body, like the shedding away of the cells more than growing, the reduced ability of cells to absorb moisture, and so on. These are controlled by nature and not by us. But there are other factors, the external ones that contribute towards the aging of the skin. Let us have a look at what they are and how they affect the skin.

Most of the times, half the problem is not being aware what the problem is. So, let us take the first step and get ourselves known to what causes skin aging. Below are highlighted 7 habits that can affect the skin in bad or worse ways and make it look older, quite early. You can graduate the rampant process of skin aging by putting a cease on the following habits.

Smoking tobacco

The smoke of tobacco and nicotine, in short, of cigarettes is very harmful to the skin. It does not matter if you yourself are counted in smokers or the person, whom you spend most time with, is a smoker. Smoke of cigarettes is proven damage causing to the skin and ramps the aging process of the same. Interaction with smoke causes loss of moisture and vitamins C and E from the skin tissues. Well, for information purposes, these are the key constituents responsible for the softness, plumpness and suppleness of the skin. Exposure to smoke steals away the skin’s health and leaves back its marks of wrinkles, spots and dryness.

Exposure to sun

The sun sends down to us, its rays that carry ultraviolet rays. With the ongoing depletion of the ozone, we can’t leave the security of our skin on it. Exposure to sun contributes as much as smoke, in the aging process of the skin. Leaving the skin unprotected (by defying the use of glares, scarves, sunscreen lotions, etc.) in the hot sun causes the superficial cells of the skin to burn and peel off the body. Also, direct sun contact steals away the moisture from the skin tissue. There are freckles developed on the skin surface, which gradually convert to dark sun spots that look very offensive. The appearance of the skin becomes very dry and leather like, with rampant wrinkling and drooping. Exposure to direct sun is one of the major causes of skin cancer.

Deficit of exercise

Exercise not only helps lose weight and keep away major health disorders, but also gives extra years for the skin to live. With exercise, the sweat pores open up and the skin cells find a way to breathe, which is as important as that for us to survive. Also, the contribution of exercise towards blood circulation indirectly chips in the health of the skin.

Extreme temperatures

The cold weathers and exposure to low temperatures, naturally or artificially, offers so much in favor of skin aging. These exposures make the skin dryer, and deprive it of moisture. Not only when out, but one needs to use moisturizers indoors also to prevent the skin from aging before time, since the heated or over cooled rooms can also serve an atmosphere not healthy for the skin.

Alcohol consumption

Alcohol consumption in excess and on a regular basis causes the small blood vessels in the body to dilate. The dilation is especially caused more near the surface of the skin, which causes the blood to rush in those regions. Thus, the skin appears red, flushed and there are marks of broken vessels on the skin surface.

Frowning is the most common expression in states of worries and stress. But there are many cases in where the faces that frown frequently have permanent marks of the expression on the face, like near the lip- ends and in between the brows. There can develop wrinkles and spots in such and other places by frowned and stressed expressions, which may show up early and persist for long or till the end.

Deprived of rest

Reduced sleep and rest durations can equally contribute towards early skin aging. Less sleep makes one look tired and used up. Dark circles and bagged skin under the eyes are formed as results of lack of enough sleep. The skin of the face sags up gradually due to the same reason. Less amount of sleep causes a person to face problems like memory loss and depression, which add up to the skin ailments.

Some causes of aging of the skin cannot be placed a barrier upon, but the one which are evitable need to be worked upon. Choose healthy diet, along with avoiding these 7 causes, to attain the best results in the attempt of delaying the aging process for the precious coat of your being.
