However, when it comes to many of us women having to go in to have our annual pap smear exam, it’s a whole different ballgame. This is the type of test that is normally dreaded for several weeks before the final testing day arrives. I am sure that many women will agree it is quite an uncomfortable and embarrassing procedure to have to endure. On the other hand, we also know how important it is so screenings can be done to check for cancer cells.

There have been many studies done recently that have suggested that a simple and easy DNA test is much more effective and cheaper in detecting harmful cancerous cells in the cervix. The superiority of this DNA test is also one that is known for being able to highly reduce the number of deaths that would generally be lost due to cervical cancer being left undetected.

One of the biggest advantages that numerous individuals can benefit from in being able to use this new high tech way of testing women for this type of cancer is the fact that it takes a considerable less amount of time to receive the results. Instead of having to wait several days for a pathologist to study readings on a pap smear, the new DNA testing can easily be read by a unique machine. To make it even better, this type of test is also extremely inexpensive. Just imagine the amount of money you can save by paying a small fee of about 5 bucks for the new way of testing as compared to having to spend 100 dollars or more for the old way of having a Pap smear test performed.
