How to Manage Stress in Children?

Kids often experience stress due to factors like pressure at school, peer pressure, parents getting divorced etc. Here, we have discussed a few methods that can save your child from stress.

Exercise:

This is an extremely effective way of fighting stress for people of all age groups; however, the effects are even greater in case of children. If your kid has experienced a trauma recently, taking him for a jog in the neighborhood or going for bike ride with him will help him is recovering from the stress. Taking part in these activities promotes the production of endorphins in the child’s body; as a result, the brain fights stress more efficiently and soon the child becomes happy again. Incorporating a 30 minute exercising session into the daily routine of a child also helps him to sleep better, which is another effective tool for managing stress.

Music:

Signs of stress in kids include changes in their eating habits, changes in the way in which they interact with their parents and other people they know, getting unwell before school etc. Music can help in easing stress in children. You can choose music that suite your child’s taste; for instance younger children can experience significant reduction in their stress levels by listening to nursery rhymes. If your child has grown a bit older i.e. if he is in his teens, the instrumentals can be more beneficial for him. They might also like listening to the music created by their favorite rock artist or band. Music therapy has great calming and relaxing effect and is also often suggested by psychologist as a method of managing stress in children.

Journaling:

Journaling involves writing down all yourthoughts and feelings; this habit often turns out to be an extremely effective tool for eradicating stress. Although it is primarily recommended to the adults, the process is also extremely effective for offering significant stress relief to the kids. Through journaling, a child can combat stress and anger efficiently and can also stay away from stray thoughts.
