How to Get Rid of Pregnancy Stretch Marks?

Majority of the women get stretch mark during pregnancy. In this article we’ll discuss the possible ways of getting rid of these stretch marks.

Oil massage:

Oils like wheat germ oil when massaged regularly to the skin areas with stretch mark twice every day, after bath and before going to bed is known to fade the stretch marks considerably. The effects are more visible if you start using the oil during the initial phase of stretch marks development.

Glycolic peels:

Dermatologists use glycolic acid for carrying out chemical peeling, which results in stretch mark reduction. The glycolic peels induce production of collagen and thus tighten up the skin reducing the appearance of ugly stretch marks. The higher strengths of these medications are available only from dermatologists; however, OTC formulations having lower strength are also available.

Vitamin C:

This vitamin has properties that promote collagen production in our body. A woman should consume 500mg of calcium every day, particularly after giving birth. This calcium might be taken from food sources or in form of supplements. At times topical formulations of vitamin C are used during the glycolic peelings.

Retinoids:

It is a member of the family of vitamin A. Many top brands produce stretch mark removal creams and lotions using Tretinoin, Retinol and Retin-A as their primary ingredients. However, never use such products when you are breastfeeding or pregnant. The retinoids boost the formation of collagen and elastin and reduce the appearance of stretch marks in the process.

Laser Treatment:

Laser therapy is capable of reducing both new and old stretch marks. However, to get the desire results of this therapy, you might need to undergo a number of sessions. This is an expensive procedure of stretch mark removal.

Surgery:

If you want to remove the stretch marks completely, this is the only option to make that possible. A surgical procedure called abdominoplasty, which is primarily done for removing loose skin and excess fat can also successfully remove stretch marks.
