If one is engaging in sexual activities and has not been checked, one needs to understand that HIV isn’t the end of the road or death penalty anymore, as radical, innovative medicines are being manufactured that aid longevity in several HIV infected cases without contracting AIDS.

Anonymity is guaranteed at several locations where tests are done, without the need to undergo any kind of needle piercing. Those who are promiscuous, having greater than one sexual partner must go in for testing. If the partners are being flitted frequently, then routine testing is mandatory despite one might be adopting safe-sex measures.

Many individuals seek medical assistance only subsequent to their HIV condition worsening and going into the advanced AIDS stage, when nothing much of consequence can be done about the condition at that time. Such cases might have endured till a ripe, elderly age, only if they had undertaken prompt testing and treatment.

Some are of the viewpoint that it is a waste of time to get tested as HIV is deadly, many of whom are naive about the medicines available that allows carrying on normal lives with HIV. There are others who are apprehensive about the expenses they would incur if they tested affirmative, fearing they couldn’t have the funds for.

Several youngsters don’t get checked as they feel they are in the pink of health. But, actually, it might takes many years till the individual would start being symptomatic. A crucial exclusion is that in nearly half the cited cases, an individual would develop severe infection in a matter of days subsequent to getting infected by HIV. The disheartening part of the episode is that doctors misread the infection thinking it is flu or a mononucleosis condition, with the true reason being perceived years later.

If one is displaying symptoms of flu shortly after a risqué sexual contact or not-protected during the act or using needles shared by others in a drug associated incident, then it is high time to go in for a check up.

There is always a window phase of near three months wherein the HIV antibodies start developing, so the test must be done after three months, with some cases taking nearly six months to show up in testing.
