There is a new study, which says that hot chocolate alters its taste and smell according to the colour of the cup you drink it in. If the cup is cream or orange coloured then the flavour and aroma of hot chocolate gets enhanced. Food and drink can taste and smell differently according to the plate and the cup it is served in. the colour of the container in which food or drink is served certainly goes a long way in enhancing the taste and aroma of the food consumed.

This is information, which is of interest not only to scientists but also the dinner hosts who want to be the best host to their guests and also to the restaurateurs who are interested to entertain their guests.

There was in fact a research, which called some participants to have hot chocolate in various types of cups. The cups varied in colour. Some were white, some were red or orange, and some were dark cream and had white on the inside. After having each drink the participants were asked to rate the drink. The categories to rate were sweetness, enjoyment, flavour and the aroma of chocolate.

The results showed that the hot chocolate was rated the best when it was served in cream or orange plastic cups. The white plastic cups had the lowest rate and they scored less than any other colour. Cream cups had a slightly higher rate on aroma and sweetness than other cups. So it is now proven that foods and beverages can have a different taste when there is change in the container. The reasons for this are unknown and it has intrigued many people who are interested in knowing the intricacies of each dish that they have.

The colour of the container in which food is eaten or drunk has a lot of potential that can actually be imagined. Researchers have in fact tried to explore this fact and have used yellow tines to give a boost to the taste of the lemon. They have also used cold colours like blue to have a very thirst quenching appeal. It has also been seen that containers in pink the drink is very sweet.

Strawberry mousse has a sweeter taste and is more delicious when it is served on a white plate. If it is served on a dark plate, it does not actually look half as attractive and tasty. The brain processes a lot of visual impact about food. So the food packaging industry and the chefs are interested to know the nuances of how food should be served and what are the nitty gritty regarding this. The container has a lot of influence in the manner in which the consumers perceive the food.

Researchers have also found that if there is a change in pill colour then it could substantially increase the taste in the patients.

Thus, hot chocolate with its delicious taste changes its flavour and aroma as per the container it is in and this is quite an intriguing aspect in health circles.
