Promote healthy eating habits so that your child stays hale and hearty, and fortify him against deteriorating health conditions. Most of us are very well aware that in today’s times, the number of over-weight kids is more than before. Also, you might have come across kids who are overweight and suffer ‘adult’ problems such as blood pressure and diabetes. Y. Claire Wang, MD, Assistant Professor of health policy at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health in New York City says that research has proved that the below mentioned points are the key for keeping kids at a healthy weight.

Lesser sweet drinks and more water intake

Dr. Wand suggests, “Many sugary beverages including sports and juice drinks are being marketed as healthy.” Therefore, avoid drinks loaded with added sugars. Pick 100% fruit juice and serve 4 to 6-oz twice on a daily basis.

Lessen the screening time

This is an effective method which will play a crucial role for betterment of your kid’s health. So, make it a point to reduce the screening time to less than 2 hours a day, and for kids, who are younger than 6 years, make it less than an hour. This is because kids eat while they watch TV and also while viewing TV; they are exposed to food advertisements.

Be sure that your kid catches at least an hour energetic play most of the days of week

This could involve anything, running outside or taking a walk, it is not necessary that your kid has to ride a bicycle, play tag or throw ball around. Also, make sure that your kid doesn’t treat himself while he is out for a vibrant walk. You need to keep in mind that for burning one can of soda, your kids need to catch a 60-minutes energetic walk.
