It can be said in various languages that to get the explanations for any malady, there is a definitive requirement of proper exams and tests. The parasitic sickness that has led to many brainstorms because of different symptoms and complications also need an appropriate diagnosis and prevention for a long run.

Exams and tests:

Physician does much type of tests as per the symptoms of the parasitic disease and the other health conditions that the patient is having. Mostly a doctor conduct a test of a stool sample of the patient to see or find out the parasites that are causing diarrhea in a patient like that of watery stools, cramps in the stomach, gas etc. They collect the stool of the patient and put them in a special bottle with preserved fluid. This test is done to check the eggs of the parasite in the stool sample. There is another test called ‘Endoscopy’ to search the parasite. In this test a tube inserted into the mouth to facilitate the gastroenterologist can test the intestines. The various kinds of blood tests can also be done to check for some specific parasite infection inside the blood. Doctors do the blood test to see the antibodies, like the blood ‘smear test’ and ‘serology’. At times, the physicians also can prescribe for an x-ray. Or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan or Computerized Axial Tomography scans (CAT).

Treatments of parasitic disease:

ParasiteThe physicians usually do the treatment of the disease on the basis of various symptoms. Some of the anti-parasitic drugs that the doctors prescribe are Artesunate, Bithionol, Dehydroemetine, Diethylcarbamazine (DEC), Melarsoprol Nifurtimox, Pentostam Suramin etc. In the countries like the US some of the drugs are not yet marketed as their demand is very low among people. In some case they also can provide vaccinations and even therapies. However, there are also some natural remedies for the intestine parasites. The doctors first check the primary health of the patient and the kind of virus that is resulting problems. Some of the herbs, usually used worldwide as home remedies, can also be used as remedy for the parasite diseases. One of them is ‘garlic’ (Allium sativa) that has been very well-known against the Ascaris (roundworm), Giardia lamblia, Trypanosoma, Plasmodium, and Leishmania. This can be easily taken as capsule or tablet form or can be easily eaten as garlic cloves. Another herb like ‘goldenseal’ (Hydrastis Canadensis) has a great historical background to cure the infections related to mucus membranes. Many researches have reveled that berberine, which is an active ingredient   of goldenseal, can be very active against the Entamoeba histolytica, Giardia lamblia, and Plasmodium. Another folk herbal remedy that is used for ringworm and athlete’s foot is ‘Black walnut’. The juices of black walnut are used for intestinal parasites. One of the herbs like ‘wormwood’ or Artemisia annua is been used in many countries as an effective remedy against Ascaris lumbricoides, Plasmodium, Schistosoma mansoni, and Giardia. Wormwood has sesquiterpene lactones and many people say they are much safe and affective. Wormseed (Chenopodium ambrosioides) is a conventional herbal medication to fight with roundworms, hookworms, and tapeworms. Strong wormwood oil is very much effectual to use against any kind of parasite. Some says the ‘pumpkin seeds’ (Curcubita pepo) can also be a good medication for tapeworms and roundworms. Many herbalists prescribe a large amount of pumpkin seeds depending on the patient’s conditions. They are found to be a good cleaner of the intestine. The ‘Grapefruit’ seed extract that is generally initiate in liquid type in health food stores, have also been proved as a proper remedy for the parasites. The doctors also recommend some proper diets to fight with the parasitical disease. The patient should avoid intake of coffee, refined sugar , alcohol and refined foods. They also advise to eat anti-parasitic foods like raw garlic and foods that contain digestive enzyme bromelain. Sweet potatoes, Carrots and squash have a large number of ‘beta carotene’ which is a predecessor for vitamin A and Vitamin A boosts the infiltration by larvae. Vitamin C and zinc also hold up the immune system. Turmeric is the other products that help fight the bacteria. The other natural remedies are Anise, Thyme, Cloves, Gentian, Olive leaf, Neem , Oregan, Propolis , Barberry and Oregon grape.

Prevention:

There should be an enthusiastic and well-managed move to stop the various affects of parasites, related to the way of living, education system, general awareness among the people and economical viability with socio-political determination .However, one should always avoid ingestion of food or water or soil that is polluted by feces or urine full with eggs and cysts of parasites. One should always avoid the transmission of the virus from another person and disclosure to the vectors that bear the parasites should not happen. Governments of all the countries should take affirmative actions to upgrade the sanitary systems especially in the rural areas. There should be an appropriate awareness program for pre and post travelers. The socio-culture gatherings have a gigantic role to spread or stop any disease that refers to low educational levels, deficiencies in the home technologies ruralism, high demographic density.  There should be a selected developmental work to improve these conditions. Many institute like the world health organization (WHO), UN Economic and Social Council, Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) etc are continuously working to fight with theses kind of diseases via several means.
