Women appear to be an excellent combination of beauty and brain on the earth. But the day –by-day increasing busy life brings in lots of health issues in front of them, which really cannot be ignored. The problem of iron deficiency is one of them.

What is an Iron Deficiency?

Iron deficiency is one of those most common concerns. The iron-deficiency anemia (IDA) is mostly seen among the women who are under the age of 50 years. It is a state that is a result of lesser existence of iron in the body. This deficiency affects the normal physical and even the mental growth and also can effect the growth of a baby through the mother. Doctors are still not able to clearly recognize the appropriate workflow of IDA in adolescent women exaggerated by iron deficiency.Blood executes a very significant role in the body leading an array of critical functions. It distributes oxygen, removes carbon dioxide (CO2) and transmits life-saving nourishments in the whole body. It helps the various parts of the cadaver to correspond with each other while transforming various hormones.   The majority of cells that frame the blood are that of the red blood cells which are called erythrocytes and there is also a subsistence of white blood cells which in other words are known as leukocytes these blood cells together fights with the various fungi, infections and many more.

Iron deficiencyCause of Iron Deficiency:

Anemia comes out   in the circumstances  when there is a lack of sufficient hemoglobin in the blood cells, which is a compound of iron and protein in red blood cells that transfers oxygen. And also when there significant requirement of red blood cells in the body. An IAD effected infant may require more iron than is given, it is found most of those infants who are not nourished by their mother. The women, who are not having a balanced diet, lead an un-managed life style or even affected by stressful life can be a patient of iron deficiency.  Anemia mostly also attacks on pre-menopausal women and also on pregnant woman who do not obtain proper iron supplements because their source of iron are been used as a source of hemoglobin for the infant they carry.

Symptoms of Iron Deficiency:

The various complications or symptoms sometimes cannot be noticed in the early stage and develops gradually. However, a feeling of irritability, uneasiness, weakness or having continuous headaches, shortness of breath are said to be the main symptoms for IDA.  Diminished appetite, unusual food hungers, sore tongue and a low count of blood pressure are also the result of iron deficiency.

Exams and tests:

Nowadays, so many tests have been identified to understand the proper deficit of iron inside the body of a patient. The most reliable test is called serum ferritin assay that calculates the amount of ferritin in the body which is a major storage of protein and also shows the actual count of iron storage in the body. The normal calculation of serum ferritin in a woman body is said to be 10 ng/mL to 150 ng/mL. If the presence is less than that, it shows the iron deficiency. But in some cases, the test shows normal results even if the patient is suffering with IDA. Sometimes, this ferritin can be high in the patient having tenderness because of chronic disorder, infection or rheumatoid arthritis and thus the test can not show low iron in the body storeroom. However, there are also some supplementary tests and if the results will portray low range of hematocrit that is a quantity of the total blood cells which is made up of red blood cells, low count of hemoglobin in absolute blood calculation, existence of TIBC (Total iron binding capacity) levels in the body higher than usual then it shows that the patient is having IDA infirmity.

Treatment of Iron Deficiency:

The appropriate treatment of iron deficiency has some motivated objectives. First to eliminate the reason of blood loss and approving the iron deficiency by several ways. In some cases doctors advice to have proper iron-rich food supplements. There are many iron-rich supplements available in the market. Doctors also advice iron pills to have between meals. These pills can be more effective if taken with Vitamin C. In many cases doctors also do blood transfusions.

Prevention:

It is always said that pretension is better than cure. The key direction towards the prevention is to have a proper nutrition. Majority intake of the foods like fish, meats, eggs, potatoes and rice is a basic requirement. Especially in the pregnant women  and woman who are still menstruating, good eating habits is the must. For the breast-feeding women and the infants should have an appropriate balance of iron enhancements. Well, this is an ordinary deficiency anybody or everybody can have, but if not treated well can lead to several other health issues in the near future.
