Cabin Fever Strikes Again

Thirty-three miners from Chile hemmed in for over a month’s time are reported to have grown increasingly irate and unruly thousand plus feet underground. The initial celebrations of their astounding survival have transformed to signs of cabin fever.

The miners were distressed when they were not given cigarette, empanada and wines by health personnel worried regarding repercussions to their health. The miners were infuriated about their requests not being fulfilled and went loony, driving machine automobiles frantically through the mine passageways. They even declined a delivery of peach fruit which was passed down via constricted tunnelling which is their only connection to the outer world.

Several miners have also become disturbed for not having received any letter intimations from near and dear ones.

This complaining is the total reverse of the euphoric feelings the miners experienced following their discovery during August.

Medical experts point out that such novel, cantankerous reactions are only natural to a cluster of individuals who are in seclusion underground and whose day-to-day activities have been vastly restrained for protracted span of time.

Psychologists state that cabin fever symptoms do tend to arise when one is trapped in constrained, hot and humid regions, with hardly any lighting - all of which tend to deplete tolerance levels of frustrations and making them impatient.

Stuck Miners exhibit Cabin Fever Signs

Medical professionals state that this turbulence of emotions shown by these stuck miners would in most likelihood continue till their rescue efforts meet with success, which might be as delayed as December.

On the flip side, when individuals are denied what they desire, that too could additionally be a risk factor.
