Breakthrough in Malaria Cure

Researchers have recently found a new breakthrough in malaria cure. They have uncovered a new protein that is very common to all types of malarial parasites. The research says that the antibodies target the protein and are proving to be quite effective in stopping the mechanism that is responsible for the life threatening malaria. Today around 10% of the people with the severest form of malaria usually die due to the disease. Another million suffer from this condition and are prone to dying due to malaria.

In the global fight against the different kinds of malaria, this breakthrough in science ensures that the next generation would not have any problem due to malaria. This protein binds red blood cells through the structure and forms clusters. These are called rosettes. and block the blood vessels in the brain. In fact, this is what causes cerebral malaria. This is the lost lethal form of the disease. When the mosquito injects the malarial parasites in the bloodstream, the protein molecules try to evade getting detected by the immune system in the human body.

These proteins on the surface are not good targets for treatments for vaccines as they have been variable between the various kids of malarial parasite strains. The blood cell rosettes are apparent in most life threatening cases of malaria so the research mainly focused on them such that they could be a common factor that could be targeted with the antibodies. According to the latest estimates, the deaths across the world usually occur among the children in places like Africa where shockingly a child dies every minute from malaria. The main aim is to avoid this condition and the statistics show that around 80% of malarial deaths occur in around 14 countries in Africa.
