It has been said by the superiors that old things never looses its identity. This remains truthful to any and every matter, even for some diseases. The diseases those are still very effective like chronic diarrhea, conversely the various technical progresses the world is going through in every second.

What is chronic diarrhea?

Diarrhea is a well-known cause of deaths in the developing countries and deaths in the infants globally. It is a state where an individual has frequent loose motions mostly in the form of water. Diarrhea that continues for more that 2 weeks is judged as chronic diarrhea. A healthy person can face the chronic diarrhea with lots of nuisance and the people who have a week immune system can have this disease as a critical illness that can root to death.

Causes of Chronic Diarrhea:

Chronic diarrhea has various causes, but they are recognized in different means in kids and adults. Sometime they are also segregated based on the kind of infection. At times, the key reason behind the illness becomes an unsolved question. Usually, the main factors that lead to the chronic diarrhea are reduced blood flow towards the intestine, distorted immune function like immunoglobulin deficiencies, AIDS, tumors, disorders of the thyroid, medications, premature surgery or radiation of the abdomen or disorders of the pancreas. The grounds of the chronic diarrhea leads to various complications. It can also result in severe nutritional problems or malnutrition. The people who have serious disorders in the immune system such as the patient of HIV/AIDS or the patients who are getting chemotherapy to treat cancer or in a case of transplantation of organs can have serious attack of chronic diarrhea.

The various assessments that are needed to check the situation of a chronic diarrhea patient depends upon the history and symptoms of the disease. Physicians usually tests blood and stool samples. As per the stool test is concerned, this test is done to check the status of the bacteria. Usually, three or four types of stool samples are colleted for the tests. Doctors also conduct special tests to check different parasites. Sometimes the primary test do not show the actual cause of the diarrhea, it that situation, some additional tests are done like radiographs or x- rays and endoscopy. In this method, a tube is inserted inside the mouth to confirm the condition of the intestine.

Treatments of Chronic Diarrhea:

The treatments for the chronic diarrhea depends upon the causes of the disease. A proper diagnosis should be done for appropriate medication. Normally, doctors prescribe certain quantity of antibiotics if the diarrhea occurs because of infections. It becomes more difficult to find the appropriate cure if the diarrhea does not have any infection background. In this case, long time medicines with a prescribed healthy diet may be required for the patient. Doctors even go for a surgery.


Diarrhea has different phases and has many complicated results, thus, one should always follow healthy and nutritional lifestyle and maintain a well-balanced diet and avoid drinks like tea, coffee and cold drinks and even alcohol.   A healthy human body should always have a balanced fluid level and manage a proper hydration. The virus of chronic diarrhea mostly spread through having unhygienic water and food. One should always drink clean and safe water that is well treated, should know proper food handling and preparation techniques. Well-managed hand hygiene is always helpful to save the health from all bad affects of infections like for example, washing hands properly with soap and water before eating any food. However, the chronic diarrhea that is not because of any infections does not harm others, but still know-how about the reasons of the disease and following the hygienic rules can always be co-operative. If one has even an average symptoms of the disease , should always consult a good doctor.
