What Are the Signs of Scleroderma?

Scleroderma is an autoimmune disorder affecting our connective tissues. Connective tissues are present in our blood vessels, skin, muscles and internal organs; this means scleroderma can affect all these parts of our system.   1.   3. Stiffness and inflammation of the joints is another common scleroderma symptom. Pain in the joints can turn severe; the most commonly affected joints are the joints of feet, wrists and fingers.   4. GERD or gastroesophageal reflux disease is a common condition experienced by scleroderma patients. GERD is marked by signs like abdominal bloating, heartburn, difficulty in swallowing and sudden weight loss.
  5. It is common for most patients with scleroderma to experience frequent episodes of constipation and diarrhea. The patient might also develop intestinal cramps along with the above mentioned bowel disorders.
