Infections can occur in the most unlikely of places. One could be venturing out on a vacation, enjoying a dip in the common bath pool, which could be the breeding ground for several infections. The most common infection is Trichomoniasis, affecting the vagina in women and urethra in men. These bacteria can be shed from the infected person through water. Also a dip in hot water pool, steam and sauna areas or spa are hot beds for water breeding germs that might be the cause of a varied number of respiratory, skin or nervous system infections. Swimmers with skin breakouts or infections, or HIV infected when in the water, can contaminate the water with their excretion. The excreta from unintended discharge from bathers or bodily fluids washed into these waters in the beaches or a local swimming pool can be detrimental to one’s health.
