U.S. researchers have unravelled a new-fangled approach wherein a compound has been discovered that targets specific master cells that aid in the proliferation of breast cancer cells. The study conducted on mice involved the use of the drug salinomycin, a farm-derived antibiotic that exterminated breast cancer cells and retarded tumour escalation with far greater precision than several of the existent drugs.
