H1N1 vaccine production insufficient
The alarming global count of 6.8 billion people who are mostly likely vulnerable to the new H1N1 virus, far surpasses the present production capacity of the influenza vaccines. The WHO Director General, Margaret Chan, during her speech at the Intellectual Property and Public Policy Issues Conference stated that the seemingly limited production of the vaccines would mostly likely be absorbed by the affluent countries that would leave many other people worldwide devoid of the vaccine. According to Chan, the preferred vaccine would be one that provides all rounded protection from the seasonal along with the whole range of associate endemic viruses. The director-general of WHO egged on the R&D sector along with the scholastics to actively pursue such a progress. She termed it as the finest and significantly logical insurance policy for augmenting production and supporting better unbiased access.
