Air travel is the easiest and fastest and convenient modes of public transport one can undertake. Therefore, request for a flight that is not jam packed. Always ask for bulkhead seats and a cot, if needed while booking your tickets. Bulkhead seats provide more leg space, where one can lay out a towel or rug on the floor in front of them where the child can be placed and can be monitored while playing. Air Cots and baby vests, if they are provided, can be ordered so that the child can sail comfortably through the flight.

Keep a baby sling handy as one’s hands are free for other purposes. A push chair is also a viable option. One can request for a push chair at the help desk to make the long walk up to the boarding area with luggage and a child more convenient. If not provided, it is always preferable to take your own, being foldable, it can be carried as a hand luggage.

Arrive at the airport well before time to avoid spiralling queues and ample time to get oneself organised. Keep hands free by carrying small and light shoulder bag of baby essentials like nappies, toys, extra clothes, food, drinks, and milk bottles.

Get the nappy change done just before boarding the flight. One must always stock up on some food or drink to be given at the go to your child during takeoff and landing to help equalise air in the ears and prevent uneasiness, discomfort and crying.

After getting on the flight ask the assistance of the cabin crew to help warm the baby’s food and drink. Clearly label your in-flight bag carrying baby essentials least it get mislaid during the flight.

Avoid consuming hot beverages or food when holding the child, least it might spill over and burn or scald the child. Carry along a few of the child’s favourite toys to be given all equally spaced times throughout the flight time.

Keep the child amused by allowing him to explore all the flight kit like cutlery, food tray, safety booklets, and headphones for music or movie.
