To steer clear of pungent smells and weird growths in wooden chest or cabinets, an orange shellac spray will prove beneficial as it not only masks the odour but also seals away water stains and knots that appear in the wood due to excess tannin. Lemon oil can be used after this procedure.

Handy Pointers To Keep Your Space Pong-FreeThe garbage disposal bin can be sprayed with a good enzyme-protein spray to get rid of the reek. The bin can be sprayed clean with water, disinfected and air dried. Vinegar mixed with water can then be used to clean it. Equal portions of vinegar to water need to be used.

One can sprinkle a good dash of baking soda in the drains or the rubbish removal unit and leave it for 15-20 minutes before cleaning. One can then used rub down cut lemon wedges all over the unit. Baking soda mixed with little water can be used to clean barbeques, microwave ovens or kitchen burners.

Charcoal is an excellent soaker of all pungent smells. One can place a few pieces in problem areas like the refrigerator or your car and observe a significant change. Cotton pieces can be drenched with grinded mint or vanilla and kept in the closed spaces like wardrobes or refrigerator or closed shoe cabinets for few days to keep the place smelling clean and nice.

Lavender or Pandan leaves can be tied in bunches and placed around the house or car to keep away pests and their related odours. If moths seemed to have got the best of your clothes or the stench of moth balls is too repulsive for you, try a mix of four tablespoons each of Lavender extract and wormwood, two tablespoons each of rosemary and grass extract and a dash of wood shavings.

Smelly walls can be sprayed with diluted bleach and Lysol or ammonia based cleaning solution. If the rugs or carpets have pet faeces, immediately remove it, blot off any liquid and clean with a quarter teaspoon of liquid detergent used for cleaning utensils in about a cup of tepid water and wash the area clean. An innate enzyme based cleaner can be used to kill the germs and avoid odour. Then one can vacuum dry the area and a brief dusting of baking powder over it will mask all unpleasant odours.

One can keep a small bowl with grinded coffee, vinegar or simply tea pouches out at places in the kitchen area to absorb any leftover food smells.
