After each bite, put your fork down
While eating maintain this habit, you just need to do is eat, chew, swallow, then put your fork down, sip water or inhale a deep breath, before you pick it again.
Leave the table for a while
When you are out in a restaurant for dining, take a piece of bread if you wish for it. After you have finished it, get up and head in the washroom, even though you don’t want to. Move ahead and take five deep breaths, before getting back to your meal.
Prefer eating heated things
While you are eating your meal, take a hot soup or cup of tea. Hot things will automatically slow you down while eating, compared to those cold things or drinks.

Eat slowly is a valid healthy diet method, our brain tend to delay in receiving signal from our stomach fullness sense, by the time our stomach is full, we may already overeat when the signal sent to the brain. Eat slowly may help in this case.

Another tip is to count the number of times you need to chew something- it can be up to 30. This slows down the eating pace too.
