multitasking_run_amok_lg1Many of the successful get setting women get engulfed in the viscous cycle of guilt. Although women are better performers in the work place than their male counterparts, many corporate organizations would prefer to hire a less competent male counterpart who was willing to spend more hours in the office. The long work hours have eventually taking toll of her health with severe incorrect habits like binge eating, smoking and less physical exercise. Only a woman herself can take stock of her situation and bring harmony to her life.

Chalk down your aspirations: Just shut out all the distractions around you and pen down your goals, career aspirations, passions and interests. Prioritize what is most important and what can be kept on the side and remain firm with what you decide. Maintain a track record of both work and home activities which can be delegated if time is not enough.

Chart out day’s schedule: Pay more importance to focal issues that dominate the day and leave the rest like responding to inconsequential messages, documents and mails to as needed then covered basis.

Stop trying to appease everyone: Many of us feel forever obligated to say yes to everyone, thus overstressing ourselves. If only the women would stand up for themselves and start considering it alright to let down someone’s request, can we make time out for the more pressing issues.

Create ‘Me’ time: Every woman needs to set aside some time in the day for doing the things she enjoys best.  It could anything ranging from books, going to the gym, pampering one, cooking a special dish. At the office front, create an ambience in your work area that comforts you by putting up memorabilia of close ones or beautifying your work space. Avoid getting stressed out and do take cat naps whenever possible.

Optimal utilization of weekends: One can sequence mandatory activities like doing the laundry or grocery shopping in bits and parts through the week rather than piling them up for the end of the week. This will save significant time for recreational activities in the holidays.

Stop guilt tripping yourself: Many women have engrained in their subconscious that because they are busy through the week and not able to afford time to family, they land up doing special tasks for them doing the weekend like toiling over a favourite dish or doing a special favour for someone which leaves no time for themselves. Also many of us are made to believe that canned, frozen foods are bad for health and are only short cuts. On the contrary, the vegetables that finally reach our plate has gone through days of high temperature and storing conditions which eventually reduces the nutritive value to more than three fourth of what it originally was.

Identify and Utilize Options: Life would much smoothly if women took the options of day-care, part time options, taking help of close ones during busy schedules or tough times.
