Reiki is a Japanese technique used for healing and relaxation. Reiki works by focusing on two systems of our body, the chakras and the meridians. Reiki is used for cleaning the meridians and balancing the chakras. There’s a misconception that Reiki is related to a religious belief; the fact however is, Reiki is absolutely secular in its approach and does not possess any relation with any religious idea. What does the word Reiki mean? It is an amalgamation of two words, Rei and Ki; Rei means divine or miraculous and Ki means vital energy. Together the word means Universal Life Energy.

How does Reiki benefit usReiki healing techniques? Whenever we suffer from a disease, metal or physical, the balance of our body gets disrupted. Reiki restores this balance and helps us to recover from the health disorder. Reiki is effective is relieving anxiety, stress, menstrual problems, digestive disorders, pains and aches and problems related to different organs of our body. By flushing out the toxins from our body Reiki encourages self-healing, strengthens our immune system, balances energy and promote relaxation of both mind and body. These effects of Reiki also results in enhancement of qualities like positive thinking, focus, creativity and awareness.

How is Reiki done? The main aim of Reiki is stimulating one’s health using energy. During a Reiki session, the practitioner places her hands lightly touching or above the recipient’s body. The recipient, on the other hand, needs to recline fully clothed. The entire procedure takes a minimum of an hour, but can be more. The duration of the treatment varies depending on how serious is the illness of the recipient is. The practitioner’s hand positions are designed for stimulating different meridians and chakras of the recipient’s body.

What are the Chakras? Every human body has 7 Chakras. Each of these Chakras corresponds to a system of our body. The systems corresponded by the 7 Chakras are: circulatory system, digestive system, respiratory system, sensory system, secretion system, reproductive system and brain. Reiki involves applying energy to these 7 Chakras and cleansing and revitalizing the systems and organs related to them. The energy flow helps in restoring all our existing healthy problems and promotes overall fitness.

What are the Meridians? Our body has a primary and a secondary meridian. Primary meridian passes through major organs of our body, which includes heart, lungs, kidneys, pericardium, urinary bladder, gall bladder, liver, colon, spleen, stomach, intestines and tripe warmer. Reiki works by balancing these meridians and in turn restores balance of different organs of our body.
